Roadmap to Recalibration- Takeaways
By Andrea Young on December 19, 2022
Looking back on these past few years of the Pandemic, we’re reminded how profoundly our lives have changed. Everything came to a halt overnight, and we were faced with uncertainty, forcing us to adapt our way of living. Our society values pushing through and moving forward under harsh or extraordinary conditions, no matter the cost. But what if we could adapt and recalibrate in these circumstances instead?
We were fortunate to have our final Empower Women event of 2022, led by Pamela Katz Ressler of Stress Resources. Pamela talked about resiliency, strategies to help us get back on track and lessons learned from the Pandemic.
What does it mean to be resilient?
Resiliency is the ability to adapt, change and withstand adversity. However, to be resilient, you need grit. Grit is the courage, passion or perseverance that helps drive you forward. Although it felt hopeless at times, we adapted to our ever-changing situation. We learned how to teach our children at home, how to work remotely and most importantly, how to stay connected when we had to isolate.
Recalibration- why it’s essential, and how do we accomplish it?
When things feel off balance, we need to recalibrate by taking a step back and looking at our overall situation. Sometimes, we need to adjust our thinking or actions. Start with yourself. When the situation isn’t working anymore, make a change. Examine the circumstances and determine what needs to shift. Practicing mindfulness can be a helpful tool in recalibration, allowing you to think more clearly and in the moment, helping you to get back on track.
Lesson’s learned from the Pandemic
Looking back at the past few years, it feels like a blur. But it’s incredible to see just how resilient we are. Change happens in times of crisis when left with no other choice. We saw elderly and young children learn technology and entire industries adapt to meet demands, but most importantly, we learned the importance of connection and community. Although the Pandemic continues to affect our lives, checking in with yourself periodically and recalibrating when you feel off balance is essential.
