Love In the Face of Hate- Takeaways
By Andrea Young on January 23, 2024
We express our gratitude to our January speaker, Robyn Vogel, for helping us kick off our 2024 Empower Women Series. In a world filled with conflict and turmoil, whether experienced on a personal or smaller scale, external influences can profoundly impact our emotions. Robyn emphasized the significance of introducing love into the world, particularly directed towards oneself. She shared tools that can be instrumental in regaining composure when feeling overwhelmed or lost.
Meditation:
Meditation is a versatile practice that can be done anywhere and for any duration. Simply finding a quiet space to focus on breathing and centering yourself can help regain control in challenging situations. It’s important to note that meditation can be as brief as a minute or as long as you prefer; the key is to concentrate on your breath, taking deep breaths in and out.
Enjoy this guided meditation from Robyn.
Return to Sender:
Reflect on your intrusive thoughts or negative feelings about yourself and situations, and you’ll likely realize that many of these thoughts didn’t originate from within you. They often stem from external influences or people in your life. For example, body image issues may have been acquired rather than innate, influenced by friends or family who criticized their own bodies. Every day, we encounter media messages dictating how to combat aging or lose weight. Take these thoughts and messages and consciously send them back to their source.
And always remember to practice kindness towards yourself and others, especially during challenging times.
